Indian Creek Tour Draws More than 150
By Steve Werblow

More than 150 people toured conservation projects in the Indian Creek watershed in Livingston County, Ill., last July, exploring an array of conservation projects in the busy drainage.

CTIC facilitates the Indian Creek Watershed Project, led by local farmers demonstrating and testing conservation practices on their farm. The 51,000-acre watershed is also home to a variety of other conservation projects, making it a prime spot for visiting, implementing and assessing an array of best management practices.

Visitors on the tour learned about conservation technologies and practices implemented in the area, including trials and demonstration plots developed by Dr. Harold Reetz of Reetz Agronomics, LLC., to assess innovative nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) tools.

New demonstrations are in the works for 2013, and will be showcased on the 2013 Conservation In Action Tour of the Indian Creek Watershed on July 9 and 10, 2013.

Efforts in the Indian Creek watershed tap the expertise and resources of a wide array of enthusiastic supporters and organizers, ranging from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency to the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Livingston County Soil and Water Conservation District, and more than a dozen sponsors:
