WIIN Watershed Network Launched With Webinar
By Steve Werblow

The Watershed Implementation and Innovation Network (WIIN) is a new, vibrant online community and learning network for watershed project managers throughout the Mississippi River Basin.

The hub of WIIN is an online home base for information sharing, easy access to peers and experts from throughout the Basin, brainstorming and inspiration. The website is almost ready for launch at Partners press time – watch the www.ctic.org home page for the official go-live.

“There are so many creative projects going on all over the Mississippi River Basin, but it’s easy for watershed project managers to feel isolated or anxious to compare notes with colleagues in other areas,” noted Karen A. Scanlon, executive director of CTIC. “WIIN will create an online library of user-contributed materials on watershed projects throughout the Basin, and a forum for conversations and idea sharing among project managers.”

WIIN was officially launched with an hour-long webinar on Dec. 3, 2012. The online session – led by CTIC’s Chad Watts, Terry Bachtold of the Livingston County (Ill.) Soil and Water Conservation District, and district conservationist Eric McTaggart of the NRCS in Livingston County – shared insight from the Indian Creek Watershed Project on engaging growers in local conservation efforts.

The webinar earned compliments from attendees, and will be archived on the WIIN site as one of the many resources available to members of the network.

WIIN is a joint effort of CTIC and The Nature Conservancy Great Rivers Partnership, with sponsorship from The Mosaic Company, Monsanto and the McKnight Foundation.
