Secrets to Success
(Author Unknown)

A study of watershed management efforts across the United States clearly indicate these are some of the keys to successful watershed management.

  • Ask (and don't give up asking) all with a stake (those who work, live, 'play' or depend on the watershed) to participate in making decisions.
  • Use sound technical information
  • Set clear, measurable objectives
  • Select effective management alternatives (strategies)
  • Develop innovative educational and assistance programs
  • Use neutral, local leadership
  • Use a systems approach that addresses all concerns/challenges.
