MANAGEMENT PLAN PURPOSES

This watershed management plan will be used as a tool to accomplish improved management through education and voluntary cooperation. The plan describes existing natural resource conditions, defines watershed goals, identifies planned future conditions, describes practices that landusers can use to improve natural resource management, and schedules watershed activities.

The SWCD board and watershed steering committee will use the plan to provide guidance to farmers about land and water resource management. Local organizations will use the plan to develop new financial incentive programs, continue existing programs, and request additional technical and financial assistance. County government will use the plan to update the county comprehensive plan. State and federal agencies will use the plan to prioritize efforts and as guidance to determine technical and financial needs. The Higginsville City Lake Watershed Management Plan will also be used in the development of other regional, state, and national plans and programs.
