Land Use - Conservation Plans
Landowners participating in the USDA programs managed by FSA have to be inspected to be sure
the compliance plan is being followed. NRCS staff field check the randomly selected five
percent HEL contract holders for compliance. A farm visit is made to inspect all aspects and
policies of the compliance plan contract. They check for residue cover management, and whether
the BMPs which were scheduled are being implemented. If compliance plans are not being followed,
NRCS works with the landowner toward compliance. If these efforts are not met, the FSA will
withhold the scheduled payments until the compliance standards are met.
Results
Since the conception of the watershed project none of the randomly selected farms have been out
of compliance.
